How can I backup files for a full system recovery?

Question by Qelery: How can I backup files for a full system recovery?
I have deleted a few system programs (system restore files) and I have too many viruses that duplicate themselves after I catch one. I have some programs and files that I want to save so that they won’t be cleared out. How do I back them up?

You should never have deleted your files most likely anyfiles that you try to back up also will be infected try running a virus scn and the virus program should delete the infected files. go here

Just copy them to a CD/DVD then scan them with a virus scanner when you’ve reinstalled windows alternatively why not email them to your self using you yahoo account then collect them after the reinstall of windows scanning them before opening them

on your given problem it is better to format your hard drive and reinstall your OS and updated virus, but before you do that back up your files to any removable storage such as floopy or cd it is not recommendable to put it in your another hard drive because there is a big chance that it is also infected and before you transfer that to your fresh installed OS update first your antivirus.

If you have any money quick and easy get Nortons systems premiere’s best home addition. around $100.00. I purposely destroyed my PC this program with in a half hour had me back to normal then I destroyed it again and used it’s system re sore point in 5 Minutes she was back to normal.Of course I had my system backed up before this test. this has a built in backup go back to the time when all was fine best money ever spent on pc software Remember if the word free is in the sentence thats what your getting junk to cause more problems.

If I were you, I’d format the drive and re-install XP from scratch.
It’s the only way to “for sure” get rid of all the infections.
Don’t bother backing anything up as it’s more than likely infected and or hiding the virus, Trojan, etc programming within it.
Call it a loss re download, install whatever.

Then BEFORE you connect to the Internet put all your security software into place and then UPDATE them immediately!!! (Make sure your Firewall is blocking incoming requests that you don’t initiate even if you already have a router)
1. A Good Anti-Virus program.
2. A Good Firewall program (Not Windows)
3. SpywareBlaster (Anti Spyware)
4. Spybot Search & Destroy. (Anti Spyware)
5. Ad-Aware (Anti Spyware)

You can use 3rd party software like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. I think in your case True Image is better because it can backup certain files and folders while Ghost backs up only disks or partitions. Anyway True Image is cheaper and I thin it has more useful features than Ghost. Follow the link to learn more: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/
