Question by OMG: I need help with PC Tune-Up program i got for free, HELP?
So i bought my laptop and the store gave me CA PC Tune-up with it (it was a deal they were having). I downloaded the first CD (btw it came with 3) and it has an activation code. Will i have to pay for it if I activate it? and for the other 2 CD’s? The CD’s are PC Pitstop Optimize 2.0, PC Pitstop Driver Alert, and PC Pitstop Disk MD 2.0

Forget that.. use free of advanced systemcare 3 Free at http://www.iobit.com I have it.. great program.. check out other free stuff in the utility button.. ~

Since the CD’s already have an activation code for the software, you should not have to pay for the software when you activate it. The activation code is used to let CA know that the software you are using is not a trial version or pirated. Also by activating the software, the company normally makes software updates and fixes available for a set period of time normally one year.
Activation codes cost money so if you already have them then no you won’t have to pay. I’m sure they are for 1 year before you have to pay. When they run out just uninstall them. Those are all very good programs. I don’t know about CA PC Tune up. PC Pitstop Optimize is a good tune up program so I would not even install the CA PC Tuneup.
They are all very unnecessary programs to spend money on.
CCleaner(free) instead of Optimize
Drivers are always free from the Mfg. Support site instead of Driver Alert
Iobit Smart Defrag(free) instead of Disk MD 2.0
Anti Virus software is another waste of money.
Use Microsoft’s Security Essentials(free) and it protects against Spyware also.
No. If they gave you the activation code, use it. It may be a short term “freebie.” It may be a teaser to get you to pay for the others, if they’re not “free.”
If worse comes to worse, you can always uninstall any of the programs if they “expire.”
